The financial crisis has successfully missed the banking sector and although last year we noticed a decrease of newly opened banking positions, we do now see a gradual increasing of new positions in the banking sector.
While most banks have been focusing on the corporate segment over the past years, there is lately an overall and general congruence to focus on retail & affluent clients. The big banks have high numbers of such clients, they just have not been able to offer them good and individual quality service. Such clients have interesting deposits for the banks and they will try to maximize profit from this sector.
During this & next year we can also expect new retail banks coming to the Czech market. In the segment of banking fees the Czech Republic ranked amongst the more expensive countries. The parent of local CR subsidiaries did not feel the pressure of competition to offer such quality service and price as we know they have in their own countries. Although banking fees are a hot topic for the local media and publicly it's seen as one of the negatives, banking fees made significant profits for the Czech banks and they do guarantee certain amount of stability in time of quick changes on financial markets.
